If you’re coming to Athens in the summer, I need you to understand something right away.
It is hot. Like, walking-around-the-Acropolis-at-2pm-is-a-bad-life-choice hot.
And yes, you can do the beach. But sometimes you just want a clean pool, a sunbed, a cold drink, and a few hours where you’re not melting into the sidewalk.
That’s where an Athens hotel pool day pass comes in.
I’ve lived in Athens, and basically made it my personal mission to find hotels that let non-guests use their pools. Because not all of them do, and the ones that do rarely make it obvious. I’ve emailed, called, shown up, and asked in person like a slightly unhinged pool detective.
The good news is there are some really solid options, from affordable rooftop dips to more luxe “treat yourself” pool days.
In this post, I’m sharing the best Athens hotel pool day passes, including prices, rules, how to book (or if you even can), and where each one is located.
And yes, I also included a downloadable map so you can find the closest pool to wherever you’re staying.

1. St. George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel
Kleomenous 2, Athina 106 75, Greece
If you want rooftop views and a proper “this is why I love Athens” moment, this is it.
St. George Lycabettus sits in Kolonaki, just below Lycabettus Hill, and feels tucked away from the chaos without actually being far from anything.
The rooftop pool overlooks the Acropolis, and on a hot summer day, it feels like a reward. After a morning wandering ruins and climbing hills, this is where you reset.
There’s also a spa if you want to fully lean into relaxation mode.
Order something fresh from the Mediterranean menu, claim your sunbed, and let the city buzz below you. I personally love the Salmon Poke Bowl.
If you’re in the mood, have a cocktail under the Athenian sky.
Or don’t. Just float. That works too.

2. Hotel Fresh
59 ATHINAS, Sofokleous &, Athina 105 52, Greece
Hotel Fresh stands out as a beacon of modern design amid the city’s historical backdrop. With a prime location just a stone’s throw from iconic landmarks such as the Ancient Agora and the National Archaeological Museum.
This is one of the more affordable hotels in Athens with a rooftop pool and city view. The spacious and comfortable rooms of the hotel have great natural light, each offering panoramic city views, and some even boast a direct view of the Acropolis!
The highlight of Hotel Fresh is its inviting rooftop pool and bar that you can pay to experience! Just imagine trying a variety of summer cocktails and delicious treats while soaking in the stunning views of the Athenian skyline.
By day, the pool area and sun loungers on the roof garden offer a laid-back urban oasis for relaxation and a refreshing dive. By night, the atmosphere transforms, becoming an eclectic meeting point for both hotel guests and locals, with live DJ setting the mood for special occasions.

3. Meliá Athens
14 Chalkokondili & 28th October Ave 106 77 Athens
I recently had the chance to spend a day at the Melia Hotel located just north of Fresh Hotel. It was one of those sweltering hot days in Athens, so I decided to treat myself to the pool day pass, and trust me, it was worth every penny.
Their rooftop pool offers more than just a swim; it offers a panoramic embrace of Athens itself. I lounged comfortably on the sunbeds, took refreshing dives in the pristine water, and sipped on an Aperol spritz.
If you’re looking for a unique way to experience Athens or just a day of luxurious relaxation, I can’t recommend the Melia Hotel’s pool day pass enough. Do yourself a favor and experience it firsthand!

4. Airotel Alexandros
Timoleontos Vassou 8, Athina 115 21, Greece
Another hotel pool in Athens that I had the pleasure of visiting was Airotel Alexandros. Located near Mount Lycabettus Hill, its a little far from the center but worth it.
I took advantage of their day pass, which granted me access to the incredible rooftop pool.
If you’re considering a day of relaxation and some quality ‘me’ time in the city, I wholeheartedly recommend spending it at Airotel Alexandros. It wasn’t cheap, but it was truly an unforgettable day!

5. Acropolis Hill
7, Mouson Street, Athina 117 42, Greece
Another hotel offering a pool pass in the center of Athens is the Acropolis Hill Hotel. If you are looking for a pool just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Acropolis, this is the perfect place.
I spent one particularly hot summer day on the wooden decks of this ideal setting. If you get hungry, they have a great rooftop bar & restaurant with a straight-shot view of the Acropolis.
Acropolis Hill is also an affordable option for solo travelers in Athens since they don’t require you to purchase a set of chairs.

6. Hotel Grande Bretagne (Pool Usage With Spa Services)
If you’re not in the mood to bake in the sun but still want a swim, this is your option.
The Hotel Grande Bretagne offers access to its indoor pool when you book a spa treatment. So instead of fighting for a rooftop sunbed, you can spend the day inside, cool, quiet, and slightly bougie.
It’s less “summer party” and more calm, polished relaxation. Perfect if you want the pool experience without the UV exposure.

Would you rather just stay at a hotel in Athens that has a pool? There are a number of truly incredible hotels in Athens with rooftop pools and views of the Acropolis!

Essentials For Pool Day in Athens
Is An Athens Pool Pass Worth It?
If you’re not a beach person and it’s boiling hot in Athens, yes… it might absolutely be worth the splurge.
After hours of walking ancient ruins in 95-degree heat, a rooftop pool, a shaded sunbed, and a cold drink can feel less like a luxury and more like survival.
It’s not necessary.
But on the right day? It’s everything.
