The Benefits of Booking a Private Athens Airport Transfer Ahead of Time
Going to and from the Athens airport is always an adventure, but not always a pleasant one. Long lines, confusing signs, and heavy bags can turn a simple trip into a nightmare.
That’s why I choose to book private Athens airport transfers ahead of time, for me it’s a no-brainer. You won’t have to worry about flagging down a taxi or waiting for a ride-sharing driver to arrive.
I personally like to feel like a VIP with my own personal chauffeur!
Don’t leave your airport transportation to chance – book a private transfer and arrive at the center of Athens stress-free. After all, life is too short to stand in airport lines.
How to Find the Best Athens Airport Transfer Service for Your Trip
Planning a trip can be stressful enough, let alone figuring out how to get from the airport to your final destination. But fear not, my fellow travelers!
I’ve done the research and tested the product, you can find the best option for airport transfer service for your needs with My Athens Transfers. So, you don’t have to settle for the first option that pops up on Google!
I always suggest you take some time to read reviews and compare prices, but from my experience, the Athens airport taxi offers nearly the same price as this private transfer!
❤︎ Pro Tip: Don’t forget to consider group size and the type of vehicle you’ll need – do you need a spacious van for a group or a sleek sedan for a solo ride?
Also, if you are arriving with a lot of bags as I did, you are gonna wanna prearrange a pick-up!
What to Look for in an Airport Transfer Company
Finding a reliable ride whether it is for pick from the airport or a private transfer to the Athens International Airport is essential.
What I liked most about using My Athens Transfer was the easy-to-use website for booking and the great price.
Also, I don’t like waiting in line for taxis or searching for drivers in the parking lot. With My Athens Transfer, you can be assured there is a driver waiting for you after you leave baggage claim. That’s where pre-booking airport transfer companies come in handy.
My Athens Transfer is also a company that has a proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
Either way, make sure to do your research before booking your ride to ensure a smooth start to your travels.
Are Airport Transfers in Athens Affordable?
If you are trying to stay on a budget when visiting Athens I would still encourage you to get a quote. Some rates are under 35 euros depending on where and what time of day you need the airport transfer.
Tips for Making Your Airport Transfer From Athens a Breeze
Athens International Airport is the busiest airport and can be overwhelming due to its size and if you had a long flight you are really going to appreciate having someone to take you the 45 minutes (without traffic) to central Athens.
Luckily, with some helpful tips, you can breeze through your Athens airport transfer like a pro.
Firstly, make sure to book your transportation service in advance for a set price to avoid any last-minute surprises and having to have cash on hand for local taxi services.
Secondly, pack light so that you can move around with ease. When I pack for Greece I tend to pack light so that I have room in the suitcase if I want to purchase items on the trip.
If you are going to need to go through customs have your flight number and passport ready.
Have a look at the Athens airport map ahead of time and wear comfortable shoes so that you may get through the airport efficiently.
Lastly, just relax! You are soon going to be on your way to your accommodation ready to explore Athens!
Is an Athens Airport Taxi Cheaper Than A Private Airport Transfer Service?
It might surprise you that a taxi transfer from Athens International Airport to Athens city center cost me nearly the exact same as booking a private transfer!
In a lot of cities, the opposite might be true! I was very surprised when I started looking into airport transfers that the flat rate was nearly the same cost as an airport taxi.
When I visited the capital city of Athens in 2022 I paid 50 euros with an airport taxi and I had to spend time in line waiting at the arrival lot. Then the next time I flew into Athens International Airport I pre-booked my transfer for a fixed price of 55 euros.
The tiny bit more money it cost for my transfer reservation was well worth it to have my driver waiting at the pick-up location at the airport terminal.
Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Public Transportation to and From Athens Airport
Going to and from the Athens airport, it may seem like taking public transportation is the way to go.
If you are on a strict budget, The Athens Metro is the cheapest way to get to this historic center.
Take it from me! The easiest way to get to and from either Athens city centre or the airport is by taking an air-conditioned vehicle.
The trip to and from the Athens airport is very long on public transport. And in the summer with all your luggage it is just not ideal. A private transfer is so much more pleasant than in a crowded subway car, surrounded by sweaty strangers.
It’s also not the safest bet to rely on the transit as there’s always the chance of delays, cancellations, or strikes. Just trust me, you do not want to be caught in the middle of an Athens transit strike. Even the airport shuttle could be on strike!
And don’t even get me started on the chaos of trying to haul your luggage onto a busy bus or train.
But if this is the option you’re considering I will explain how to utilize taking public transportation to and from the airport.
Metro-line Information from Athens Airport to Athens City Center
From the airport, you will want to follow the signs for the train station. Look out for the blue line to Athens City Center. The trains run every 30 minutes from the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
To reach the city center you will take the train to Syntagma Square. The journey time is 40 minutes. From the station, you will need to map your route to your Athens hotel.
The cost of the metro tickets is 10 Euros for a one-way ticket and 18 Euros for a round-trip return ticket. A great compromise and a way to save money on private transfer service are to book service from your pickup at the airport and then take the metro line to the airport on your return.
You will have more energy on the return journey than on arrival.
Making Sure You Have the Best Experience with Your Private Airport Transfer Service
Getting ready for a trip can be stressful, but it’s nothing compared to the experience of navigating a foreign airport after a long flight. That’s where private airport transfer services come in!
With the right company, you can relax and let someone else handle the logistics of getting you to your hotel.
Athens airport transfers can be set up online, and although you can also do this with an Athens airport taxi, I still prefer the private transfer.
You don’t want to be stuck in a cramped car with a driver who’s lost and doesn’t speak your language! Trust me, I speak from experience. So, take the necessary steps to ensure a smooth, stress-free ride to your destination, and enjoy the start of your adventure!
Should I Rent a Car in Athens?
I recommend only renting a car in Athens if you plan to leave the city center. With most rental car companies in Greece, you can take the car on the ferry to the Greek Islands. Just arrive at the port of Piraeus with your car and you will drive in on.
On some Greek Islands, I highly recommend you rent a car. If you visit the island of Milos it is advisable you have a car. The island is big and attractions beautiful beaches are spread out across the island.
Islands such as Rhodes & Crete have a lot to see in the old towns where you might not feel like you need to rent a car.
Is Athens a walkable city?
Yes, downtown Athens is a very walkable city!
With its narrow streets and bustling plazas, the city can easily be explored on foot. You can wander through the ancient ruins of Agora, and Acropolis, visit the Acropolis museum and take in views from Lycabettus Hill. All without having to use public transport!
If you plan your Athens itinerary well you can see a lot of Athens in just 2 days.
Final Thoughts: Conclusion of booking for an airport transfer to Athens
When it comes to getting from the airport in Athens to your city center destination, an airport transfer service can take away all of your transport-related stress.
Booking a private transfer ahead of time will ensure that you have the smoothest journey possible and free up more time for you to explore Athens.
A great way to ensure you will have better service and experience with airport transfers is to read more reviews.
