A Solo Woman Traveling is a women-owned travel company and media brand founded by Melissa Byron in 2019. We create women-only small group tours across Europe, custom boutique itineraries, and practical travel guides that focus on safety, hotels, and the details that actually matter.

This platform exists to help women travel confidently and intentionally. While our core audience is solo female travelers, our guides and itineraries are designed to help any traveler plan a stylish, well-organized trip.

Behind the blog

How it all started

My solo travel journey began in 2009, before smartphones and Google Maps made everything easier. Traveling alone looked very different back then, but it changed everything for me.

Over the years, solo travel shaped who I am, helping me grow in confidence, independence, and self-trust. I spent my 30s exploring Europe and the world on my own, and now in my 40s, solo travel has become my favorite chapter yet.

What I learned along the way is simple: going alone is not a fallback, it’s often exactly what you need. Especially during seasons of life when everyone else seems to have it figured out, solo travel can be the thing that helps you reconnect with yourself.
