Planning the P-E-R-F-E-C-T solo trip is only half the battle. How well you prepared yourself while on the trip is a major factor. So much of the stress and anxiety of planning and living out your adventure can be alleviated with the right apps! That is why I have created this list of the 13 must-have travel apps for solo females!
These travel apps are all vital for your solo female journey around the world! Almost every app on the list is FREE and works with Android and iPhone. Happy traveling!
Most Essential Travel App for Solo Females
Chances are you might have one of these apps already, but maybe you don’t use them often. I like to create a folder for all my travel apps so that I can easily find them amongst all the chaos on my phone.
1. Google Maps

My #1 most must-have app is no surprise to anyone, and that is Google Maps. Google Maps has some great features to save desired destinations into your wish list. I always do this ahead of time when traveling.
Don’t forget to download the offline maps for the cities you are visiting. I have often found myself without a great data connection and the offline map was helpful.

2. MayDay Safety
Solo traveling as a female can be perfectly safe! In fact, I have often felt more comfortable in a foreign city than I did my own.
Researching your destination is an absolute must. Know before you go on where to stay, where to avoid and how to navigate yourself.
For an extra added security measure, get the May Day app. May Day allows you to automatically send an alert to those you elect as to your whereabouts.

3. GeoSure

Continuing on the safety theme, this next must-have travel app for solo females is GeoSure.
Get a more in-depth look at a cities neighborhoods here. Just remember that the city rating is not ever going to be 100.
My own city in which I feel very safe only received a score of 62. I urge you to compare your own city with your destination city and you will see they might be similar in ratings. iPhone or Android

4. Open Table
Here is a little information about myself. I travel in search of great restaurants, and I often find them ; )
My worst travel nightmare is missing out on a truly incredible restaurant. It’s happened before.
Now I always book ahead at least a few places using Open Table. Just download for free and book away.

5. Flush

Whoever came up with this app is a genius! Ladies isn’t looking for a toilet the most annoying thing when traveling??
This app has us covered in our moment of need. Download this free app and find all the nearby toilets.
Flush will also tell you whether you need to pay for this toilet as well if it is handicap accessible. Brilliant!
6. Express VPN
Express VPN isn’t just a must-have travel app for solo females. This is an app for always and for everyone.
Keep your connection safe wherever you are with this VPN. It can also be helpful if you needed to access a website that is not allowed in the country you are in.
This VPN allows you to modify your location. iPhone or Android

8. Google Translate
Learning new languages is so hard, and I should know. Currently, I have been learning German, and let me tell you it is not easy.
When traveling alone, you might find a need to communicate with someone that doesn’t speak your native language. For this reason, be prepared and have Google Translate downloaded on your phone. iPhone or Android

9. XE Currency

Some of these must-have travel apps for solo females are for everyone. I have a couple of cringe-worthy stories for you about my mishaps with currency exchange.
They say Thailand is cheap, right? Yeah, that is what I thought too! So why do I need to check the currency exchange for a hat?!
I honestly thought it couldn’t be more than $20. Well, I was in Phuket and didn’t realize it was the exception in Thailand where things are marked up like they are at Disney World.
So seventy dollars later on this hat… I considered wearing it around the house to get my money’s worth… Don’t be like me. Get this free app. Iphone or Android
10. PackPoint
This might be the most helpful app on the market, and it’s FREE!
Why do you need this app?? Oh, have you ever been like, forget that important something or other, going to have to buy it.
I consider myself a pro-traveler, and honestly, if I don’t use a checklist, I always forget something.
This app is very smart and takes all your activities and environment into account when generating. It is a must-have travel app for solo females. iPhone and Android

11. Tourlina

It can get a little boring if you are on a long solo travel journey. Why not meet another female traveler for dinner or a day tour?
Tourlina is a female-only based app that will connect you with another female traveler.
This app is still fairly new, so if you are going to obscure places, it might not be useful. When it builds its list of users, you would be able to find a travel buddy anywhere!
12. Time Shifter
Looking to avoid jet lag? There is an app for that! Time Shifter is a pretty cool and intuitive app that takes your personal data to create a plan for you.
This app will suggest when you should power thru or power nap depending on your normal routine, age, gender, and more!
