So you found Hotel El Dorado Paris online and are wondering whether to stay here or skip it?
As a travel advisor who has stayed at hundreds of hotels, I can tell you this… most online reviews don’t actually tell you what you need to know.
They don’t tell you what the area really feels like, who the hotel is actually for, or whether you will walk in and think “ok I love this” or “what did I just book?”
So I wanted to write the kind of review I would want to read before booking.
Spoiler alert. Hotel El Dorado Paris is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Not just in Paris… like ever.
I’ll keep this simple and to the point, because I know you are not here to read a novel. I just want to give you a clear picture of what it is actually like to stay here so you can decide if it is worth it for you.
And no, this was not a sponsored stay. I paid for it myself. But if Hotel El Dorado happens to be reading this… I would not say no next time 🙂

Do I Recommend Hotel El Dorado Paris?
Yes. 10/10, without hesitation.
If you care about where you stay and see your hotel as part of the experience, not just a place to sleep, Hotel El Dorado is a fantastic choice. It feels like the kind of Parisian hotel people think they are booking when they come to Paris.
It is surrounded by some of the best boutique shops and bistro-style restaurants, and I’ll tell you exactly where I ate and shopped so you can experience it the same way.
If your priority is being steps from the major tourist attractions, this might feel a little far out. But honestly, not being in the middle of all that is exactly what makes this place so special.

What You Need to Know Before Booking
- Breakfast: Yes, and it’s actually good. Continental with vegetarian and gluten-free options, plus à la carte if you want something more filling.
- Rooms: You’ll find doubles, suites, and twin options. Nothing overly flashy, but well-designed and comfortable.
- Location: About 3.7 km from central Paris, which means quieter, more local, but not “step outside into tourist chaos.”
- Check-in / Check-out: Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 12pm.
- Extras: They offer walking tours, but honestly you’re in Paris… you won’t need help finding things to do.
- The Staff: I found them to be very helpful & friendly!
Who Will Love Staying at Hotel El Dorado Paris
You will love this hotel if you want your stay to actually feel like part of the experience.
This hotel is for you if:
- You want that slightly fancy, boutique Parisian feel without it being over the top
- You appreciate a quiet street where you can actually sleep at night
- You care about the little details, like a Dyson hair dryer and really good shampoo and conditioner
- You like having an on-site restaurant so you don’t have to think too hard at the end of the day
- You want to be surrounded by local shops and restaurants, not tourist chaos
- You want to bring your dog Paris, as Hotel El Dorado Paris is pet-friendly!

Who Should Skip Hotel El Dorado Paris
Skip this if you are trying to save money. This is not the cheapest option, and it’s not trying to be.
Also, skip it if you want to be right in the middle of the main tourist sights. You won’t be stepping outside to the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre.
This is a stay for people who care more about the feel of their neighborhood than checking off landmarks.
What the Rooms Are Actually Like
In a word, dreamy. I stayed in the Parisienne room type, AKA the smallest and cheapest, and loved it.
To say Hotel El Dorado thought of every detail would be an understatement. The rooms feel perfectly Parisian in a way that doesn’t feel staged or overdone. Even the light switches have that old-school charm, and the lighting throughout the room is soft and warm, which makes it feel cozy the second you walk in.
The bed is insanely comfortable. It’s on the softer side, but not too soft. The kind of bed you actually look forward to getting back into at the end of the day.
The Parisienne room is 18 square meters, which didn’t feel that small. And at night it was dark and quiet, which, in Paris, is not something to take for granted.
You get a flat screen smart TV, which was honestly a game-changer for me. I could easily log into Netflix and unwind at night. They also offer room service, which is nice if you don’t feel like going out.
And yes, there is air conditioning. I stayed here in August, and it worked perfectly, which is a big deal in Paris, as you may have heard, not all AC in Europe is that powerful.
I also stayed here in December, and the temperature control was just as good in the colder months. The rooms stayed comfortable without ever feeling too hot or too cold.

Hotel El Dorado is located in the 17th arrondissement, in the Batignolles area, which feels local in the best way.
You’re close to a lot, but not in the middle of it.
What’s Within Walking Distance
- Moulin Rouge – 10–12 minute walk
- Place de Clichy (major metro hub) – 4 minute walk
- Montmartre – 15–20 minute walk
- Sacré-Cœur Basilica – 18–20 minute walk
- Palais Garnier (Opera House) – 18–20 minute walk
- Galeries Lafayette – 20–25 minute walk
The metro at Place de Clichy makes it easy to get anywhere, and you can reach most of the main sights in about 20–25 minutes.
What I really liked about this area is that it doesn’t feel touristy.
It feels like you are actually staying in Paris, not just visiting it.
You have small boutiques, wine shops, bakeries, and people just living their everyday life. It’s that slightly elevated but still relaxed feel that is hard to find in Paris.
Rue Legendre was a highlight for me. I found myself walking over there constantly. Shops like Maison Labiche, Cyrillus, and Sessùn are right there, and it’s the kind of area where you stumble into places instead of planning them.

Where I Ate & Shopped Near Hotel El Dorado Paris
I came to Paris more for the vibe than the checklist of tourist attractions, so being surrounded by cafés, wine bars, and boutiques was a priority for me.
These are the places I actually went to, and would go back to again:
Restaurants Worth Booking in Walking Distance
- Pink Mamma
Yes, it’s Italian, but sometimes you need a break from French food. It’s beautiful inside and the arrabbiata was so good. I would absolutely go back. - Le Bon Georges
A more elevated French dining experience. This is where you go when you want a proper, slower dinner. - Le Pêche Mignon
The kind of French bistro you hope to just “find” in Paris. Classic dishes, no fuss, exactly what you want. - Mova
More modern and creative. If you want something that feels a little different, this is a good one. - Le Dit Vin
A small wine bar with bites. Perfect for a casual night when you don’t want a full dinner. - Strobi
A really fun concept with both small plates and main portions. I loved being able to mix and match depending on how hungry I was.

👉 You’ll want reservations for pretty much all of these.
Shops I Loved Nearby
This was honestly one of my favorite parts of staying here.
- Maison Labiche
Effortless Parisian basics. You walk in and immediately want everything. - Sessùn
A little more elevated, really beautiful pieces. - Cyrillus
Classic French style, great for timeless pieces. - From Future
Known for their cashmere. So soft, very tempting.
Most of these are around Rue Legendre and the surrounding streets, which makes it really easy to just wander and stumble into places.

My Thoughts on the Breakfast at Hotel El Dorado Paris
Breakfast here is not a buffet. It’s a sit-down, order-from-the-menu situation, which I personally like.
That said, the menu is pretty simple.
They have eggs done a few different ways (I always got scrambled), plus pastries and bread. It’s good, it’s fresh, but it’s not anything over the top.
Honestly, this is one you could skip.
There are so many cute brunch spots nearby, like La Main Noire, where you’ll get more of that “I’m in Paris” kind of breakfast experience.
You won’t be disappointed if you eat at the hotel, but you also won’t feel like you missed out if you don’t.

Would I Stay at Hotel El Dorado Paris Again?
Yes. Without even thinking twice.
This is one of those hotels that actually changes your experience in Paris. It’s not just a place you sleep, it’s part of the trip.
If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Paris, walking to local cafés, shopping on quiet streets, and coming back to a room that feels thoughtful and comfortable, this is it.
If your goal is to be in the middle of the tourist sights, you might want something more central.
But for me, this is exactly how I want to experience Paris.
